1) Anna Hyatt Huntington, born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on March 10, 1876 to October 4, 1973 (aged 97), was an American sculptor who was among NYC's most prominent sculptors in the early 20th century.

2) Her father encouraged her early interest in animals and animal anatomy. She studied at the Art Students League of New York.

3) She spent many hours making extensive studies of animals in various zoos & circuses. In 1932, she became one of the earliest woman artists to be elected to the American Academy of Arts & Letters.

4) She was a member of the National Academy of Design & the National Sculpture Society. With her hubby's enormous wealth & shared interests of the couple, they founded 14 museums & 4 wildlife preserves.

5) At a time when very few women were successful artists, she had a thriving career. She exhibited often, traveled widely, received critical acclaim at home & abroad, won multiple awards, & commissions.

6) Her work is displayed in many of NY's leading institutions & outdoor spaces, including The Met, & many others. Her hubby founded the Hispanic Society of America in 1904, & it also contains her work.
