1) Betty Marion White Ludden, born in Oak Park, Illinois on January 17, 1922 to December 31, 2021 (age 99) was an American actress and comedian. She is often referred as "First Lady of Television."
2) A pioneer of early television with a career spanning over 8 decades, noted for her vast work in the entertainment industry & being one of the first women to work both in front of and behind the camera
3) She was the first woman to produce a sitcom (Life with Elizabeth) in the United States, which contributed to her being named honorary Mayor of Hollywood in 1955.
4) She earned a Guinness World Record for "Longest TV career by an entertainer (female)" in 2014 and in 2018 for her lengthy work in television.
5) Her biggest roles: Sue Ann Nivens on the sitcom The Mary Tyler Show (1973 to 1977), Rose Nylund on The Golden Girls (1985 to 1992), and Elka Ostrovsky on Hot in Cleveland (2010 to 2015).
6) Received 8 Emmy Awards in various categories, 3 American Comedy Awards, 3 Screen Actors Guild Awards, & a Grammy Award. Has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, & was a 1995 TV Hall of Fame inductee.
