1) Diego Armando Maradona, born in Lanus, Argentina October 30, 1960 to November 25, 2020 (aged 60), was an Argentine professional football player and manager.
2) Francisco Cornejo, youth coach who discovered Maradona quoted: 'When Diego came to Argentinos Juniors for trials, I was really struck by his talent and couldn't believe he was only eight years old.'
3) On Oct 20, 1976, he made his professional debut for Argentinos Juniors, 10 days before his 16th birthday, vs Talleres de Cordoba. He became the youngest player in the history of the Argentine Division
4) Maradona spent five years at Argentinos Juniors, from 1976 to 1981, scoring 115 goals in 167 appearances before his US$4 million transfer to Boca Juniors.
5) Maradona played his first World Cup tournament in 1982 in his new country of residence, Spain. He showed up for the other tournaments in 1986, 1990, and 1994.
6) Widely regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of the sport, he was one of the two joint winners of the FIFA Player of the 20th Century award.
