1) Helen Hardin (Tewa name: Tsa-sah-wee-eh, which means "Little Standing Spruce"), born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on May 28, 1943 to June 9, 1984 (aged 41), was a Native American painter.

2) She was raised by an artistic mom. At age six, she won first prize for a drawing. At age nine, her works were sold with her mom's at ceremonial events. Later on, she wanted to create her own style.

3) She was a studio artist, who from the 1960s to mid 1970s lectured and exhibited paintings at Albuquerque's Enchanted Mesa Gallery. Her early work was considered traditionally realistic.

4) Up to 26 layers of paint (ink washes, acrylics, airbrush & varnish) were applied to her works. She painted tiny dots (stipples), spattered paint with a toothbrush, & applied transparent washes.

5) As her career matured & she gained confidence, she became known for painting complex works that combined colorful images & symbols from her Native American heritage with modern abstract art techniques

6) She received honors for her works at many museums and exhibits. Her works are in the collections of Heard Museum, Indian Arts & Crafts Board, Loyola Law School, Southwest Museum, and many others.
